Question / Help Multiple capture devices

I am using a star tech sub 3.0 capture device. It works fantastic and love using it. I need two more inputs of hdmi though and I only have one on the capture device. I have an hdmi toggle box that allows me to switch between hdmi inputs, but it cuts out the signal in between changes and makes it so that it literally says that there is no signal. Is there a way to trouble shoot this in obs or am I needing to get more capture devices and if so then my question is does that work well? A bit scared to drop the $250 if it hasn't worked for others before.

Even if there is just a black screen in between that would be fine. Just don't want it to say "no signal" for obvious reasons.

Can't really say since I don't have your HDMI toggle box. However I'd be wary of using multiple high bandwidth USB devices at the same time. Most of the problems with USB capture devices or web cams on these forums probably result from sending too much information over the USB bus. Not sure you can double or triple how much data is being carried without running in to problems, even on USB 3.0. Get more PCIe capture devices if you're going to do it at all.

Gotcha. That was my original thought as well. Have you ever tried using multiple capture devices?

Haven't myself. But I've seen posts from others on these forums that it works in OBS. Some capture devices might have problems, but that's on their drivers and not on OBS.

Good to know. Thank you!
In the past I've used a device called a dvi detective. since DVI dignal is the same as hdmi you could use the gefen hdmi detective if you find one. what it will do is save the EDID information from one of your devices and send that signal to the PC at all times. This prevents a switch from corrupting the signal during a switch. also note that using a device like this will require you to use the same resolution and hz on both devices so i dont know if that would work for you. I would guess that maybe you need something a little more professional to keep the signal going during the switch.

I juggle 5 webcams and an EasyCap on my Linux box. I get away with it because I have multiple PCIe USB cards plus the native MB ports. Without them I was bumping into bandwidth limitations all over the place.
