Question / Help MP4 Settings

Hi... I just installed this. It's awesome. But I'm just trying to record a little video off my webcam, and it seemed to save it as an .flv file. I saw somewhere you can save files as MP4's, but don't see the settings for that anywhere. Am I missing it? I'm in encoding and I have x264 checked. Thought that was mp4. Thanks!

Settings > Broadcast Settings > Change the file extension to .mp4 instead of .flv. You can also remux existing FLV files into MP4 without re-encoding them - https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/how-to-convert-flvs-to-mp4-fast-without-re-encoding.78/

Why should I record in flv format?

I'm going to be putting this into a video editing program most likely after... I could be wrong, but I think Adobe Premiere doesn't take flv, and if it does, I don't believe it works as well as mp4 files.

Well, as Sapiens and the linked guide explains you can, for premiere and without quality loss, copy them to a mp4 file using ffmpeg. I prefer the benefit of having a workable file assuming OBS would crash. It just takes a few minutes maybe to copy it over to an mp4. But its of course just my preference.
