Hello OBS,
I've been streaming for the past months without issues, but recently I've had issues with dropped frames.
I apologize in advance if this has been asked before, but I could not find a definite answer via google :( .
The situation:
I live pretty close to my uni, and we have super fast internet. However the building I live in limits our download & upload speed. I have streamed fine @ 720p with 1700 bitrate for the past months, with 0, or 0.2% dropped frames. It doesn't look fancy, but it's surely watchable. For online games, I have always had to put in minimize network impact and low latency mode to even remotely play. However recently I have had a lot of dropped frames and my viewers have told me that the stream isn't as fluid/laggy as it used to be.
My question is, I can, if I do it right, get a second authentication key for our internet, and connect a second cable to my pc. That would mean I can stream via one throttled connection while I play on the other connection without my ping being super high. I would have to buy a second lan card tho.
Now my question is, does low latency mode and minimize network impact somehow lower my ability to stream at a higher bitrate? I rather not decrease my bitrate even further. The lan card isn't extremely expensive, but I don't wanna buy it if it doesn't help at all. My understanding is that those 2 settings somehow alter packages/protocol to let me have my neat ping while still streaming. Does that mean I get a lower "upload speed" when I enable those settings?
Those 2 settings have worked magic for my ability to stream the past months, but I don't really understand how they do it.
TL;DR:
Does "minimize network impact" & "low latency mode" somehow mess/decrease upload speed?
Thanks
