I have been using OBS for almost a year now and all of a sudden I am having issues with my microphone output. When I stream or record my output from OBS I am only getting voice output from the rear speakers in my 5.1 setup. The game sound records and streams in 5.1 surround just fine but my microphone is only coming out of the rear surround speakers. I noticed the issue because some viewers are complaining of no microphone output. OBS detects the microphone just fine and EVERY other program I use (games and various recording software) works fine and outputs my mic signal from all speakers. I have tried to "force mono" in the OBS settings but all that does is cause no sound from ANY speaker for my microphone.
I am using a built in realtek sound card for my main output (optical connection to a 5.1 standalone receiver). I am also using a SoundBlaster X-Fi add in card for the microphone input. I am using an AKG studio microphone to a powred mic amplifier connected with an XLR cable that then goes from XLR to 3.5mm into the SoundBlaster input on my PC.
I am a pretty educated audio/video guy and would say that I am 99% sure it has nothing to do with the physical connections for my microphone. My guess is something in the settings or registery files for OBS. I feel like I've tried everything so here I am. If you have any suggestions I'm all ears!
