Question / Help Microphone not Recording

Thanks for the help in advance.
I've been recording for a couple of months now with OBS and most issues I have I can just google the problem and get a fix, but not this time.
My microphone suddenly isn't recording in OBS. It works fine in everything else I tried audacity and discord and it was fine. I was having trouble with the volume being really low (again only in OBS) and I think I messed it up completely so now it's not recording at all. I even checked to make sure push to talk wasn't on or it wasn't muted and none of the hotkeys were even set so no problems there.
The Mic/Aux bar moves so it's picking up the audio, but when I playback there's nothing.
I use a headset mic that plugs into the headphone jack (not sure what that's actually called)
Here's the uploaded log.

Are you recording your desktop and mic to separate audio tracks?
Do be aware that video players DO NOT mix multiple tracks, they only play back ONE at a time. So if your desktop audio is recording to Track 1, and your mic is recording to Track 2, you will only be able to hear your desktop OR your mic, depending on which track you've selected to hear in your audio player.

The fix is to record to three tracks. Track 1 having both Desktop and Mic checked (in Advanced Audio Properties), Track 2 with only your desktop, and Track 3 with only your mic, for example. You can hear both on Track 1 (the 'mixdown' track) while being able to edit the mic and desktop each on their own 'clean' audio track (2 and 3) in your video editor later.

Also, NEVER RECORD TO MP4 DIRECTLY FOR ANY REASON. Not related to this issue, but recording to mp4 directly with OBS has a TON of extremely severe problems and should never be done. Record to mkv if you need multi-track audio, and use the 'Remux Recordings' option in OBS' File menu after the recording is complete if you need mp4s for your video editor.

That was absolutely it. It sounds like I did manage to fix the volume problem at the same time... somehow. oops.

Ok, I'll change the format. The youtube video I watched recommended it to be mp4, otherwise, I'd have left it alone. Probably should steer clear of his videos from now on.
Thanks. Glad it was an easy fix.
