It sounds like you may have it set up incorrectly...can you take a screenshot of your noise gate settings?

i tried but the file is too big i can tell you what i have it set up to the screen shots take a picture of all 3 desktops so it wont let it upload sinc eits over 1 mb

my settings for noise gate are :
close threshhold -17
open threshold -18

enable noisegate checked
attack time 25
hold time 200
release time 150.

it worked before with these settings and now it wont turn off the noise

Sometimes we don't always have the answer -- it's not an easy situation. You said it was after an OBS update? The problem with that is that we pretty much haven't really touched noise gate at all since its creation. https://github.com/jp9000/OBS/releases are the older versions if you want to try older versions anyway, but as you'll see it probably won't change much.

I'm not really entirely sure what to suggest at the moment -- we really need more feedback on it, like what works and what doesn't, a more detailed report perhaps? If you're just looking for us to just fix the problem for you that just isn't always as easy as it seems.

No i want a suggestion as what it could be... the only thing that doesnt work righ tnow is shutting off the background noise when im not talking, So before i start talking it is completely silent the bar doesnt raise nothing, but the second I talk the mic stays open and theres nothing i can do

Purely speculating here.

I've noticed that occasionally when I update, My mic level in the Windows device manager has increased from where it was before. So i'll have to go in, and adjust the open and close thresholds accordingly. Also, looking at your settings, if you read the description on the noise gate page, it says:

"Set the Close threshold approximately 4db over the loudest noise the mic picks up, and then make the open threshold approximately 6 db above that."

You've actually put your Open and close threshold right next to each other, with no space in between. This could be causing a conflict where if sound hovers around those points, It could never see the need to close off the mic. Might want to tinker with your sliders.
