Microphone Filters turn off during game play

Hello OBS helpers,

I'm having some issues with my Microphone filters. When I record or stream on desktop the filters work amazingly.
Filters:
1. Noise Suppression
2. Compressor
3. Gain
4 Noise Gate

The issue arises when I run Call of Duty Modern Warfare - all the filters seem to disable and my mic is always open. When I alt-tab to the desktop the issue goes away but as soon as I open COD it's back again.

Any thoughts on what might be the cause of this. In-game audio settings overriding OBS?

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

Was there ever a solution to this? This just started happening to me in OBS 2023

Hey mate, I'm having the same issue but different game. Noticed my microphone filters are removed when in a certain game (Dayz). Other games work fine, did you find a fix?>

The original problem (from June 2020) could be caused by improper routing, which puts something through the mic channel that shouldn't be, and that keeps the gate open. It would also have to get past the noise suppressor, which is designed to only pass a spoken voice, but it's nowhere near perfect. So a constantly-changing game sound might get through that too.

The actual path for the game to get into the mic channel could be any number of things, from bad settings somewhere, to acoustic feedback from literal speakers through the air to the actual mic.

If you're not using those specific filters, then of course the behavior and root cause could be different.
