Question / Help Microphone disconnects randomly please help!

Hey everyone.. Here is the problem:

I'm streaming with OBS Studio x64 and I have an edirol ua-4fx USB audio interface..
At any moment .. OBS will no longer show the audio being monitored on the mic channel under the "Mixer" section of OBS.. and it will no longer be shooting that mic's audio to the stream... It just cuts out ... Although the monitor on my Edirol USB Interface shows the mic is still picking up sound...

When I open Control Panel > Sounds > Recording .. It shows does not show that microphone (UA4-FX) monitoring audio properly... I can disable/re-enable it .. and the audio monitoring shows back up properly.. (this does not fix it in OBS) ..

The only way to fix it in OBS is to completely reload an entire new scene set... (Which may or may not be proper for that particular stream).. This also may or may not break my Webcam output for whatever reason..

Are there any fixes to be done here?

My PC is running with like 24GB Ram , 4.0ghz processor , GTX 970 graphics .. The audio interface is utilizing an XLR Mic with phantom power...

Audio recording + sound output is both sampling at 44.1 in the OBS and windows sound settings.. so they match up..

This wasnt happening to me a few patches ago.. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I've attached my latest log file but I doubt it shows anything but me switching scenes a lot..
I've not done any streaming/recording but I've seen this thing kicking my mic off whilst the program is idling but more importantly it was doing this when using OBS as a virtual camera for some google hangouts the other day. Either way its cutting out while idling or in-use... Could it be some game I have open? Or some video editing software that may be messing with it? Skype? What do you think?

Thanks!

Update: Left it on and truly idle all night.. Mic stayed connected..

Made one call with Gmail (using the same mic thats being monitored in OBS) and at the end of the call , I had my audio recorder stall out on me and stop the recording.. and the OBS mic had dropped off again with no signal to monitor.. the USB interface still worked and was still monitoring the mic's sound...

The only thing I know is that google hangouts makes this problem happen more often than it should... Or any part of google or my browser taking control of the mic I guess... Is this a problem with another program double dipping into the mic and causing disconnects?? If so , I can understand such a driver conflict.. but what about when I'm not using an audio recording program at the same time the mic is being used in OBS? And what about the times I'm not using the mic at all and it just cuts out? Like opening new tabs or videos in my browser can randomly make it break it seems..

Any thoughts would be appreciated.. My only option at this point would be to use a different mic setup... I can do that .. but I'd rather keep things how I've had them for years.. I've not used this mic very much in OBS so I don't truly know how long this problem might have been happening .. but I know I've used it for the past few months with no problem until a patch or 2 ago.

Anyone else having problems with their mic connecting through a USB audio interface? I'm trying to connect the mic straight into my line in on my motherboard for now... I'd rather not do that .. but it seems to be working fine.. I'll have to stream again to find out. Just bumping this in case somebody know what the issue might be.

I have same problem. I'm gonna crazy. This is not only about OBS. When I open some software or game mic not responding randomly close itself.

Go to Windows Sound
Click the Recording tab
Choose the mic
Play with the Advanced settings on the mic
Exclusive mode, there's two of them. Fiddle with the settings.

Report back if this worked or not.

I too have this problem, Soundcard (Focusrite Scarlett Solo) still registers input (lights up in response to stimulus), but my entire system randomly stop registering that input. I have to disable and then enable the mic in order to get things working again. I've tried toying with the exclusivity options but the problem still persists - did an answer to this problem ever surface?

I'm trying to uncheck the "Give exclusive control" options to see if that works for me ... I fixed this problem not long ago by switching USB ports or updating the USB audio interface and updating windows.. but since moving my PC and re-hooking everything up , the problem came back.. I dont know what fixed it ... and I dont know why it matters what damn USB port things are plugged into but I can't figure this problem out.

USB reliability isn't something that's 100%. This is especially apparent if you ever try to use a usb3.0 device with a fairly long cord on your front-panel USB3.0 plugs -- the signal reliability just isn't there.

That's not to say that's the only problem. Different host controllers, different drivers for each host controller, USB2.0 and USB3.0 bandwidth limitations, power delivery across all devices connected... all of these play a part in USB reliability.

Try this, hope it works:You may see a list of drivers waiting to be repaired or updated.then Come to the Uninstall menu and click the button Uninstall to remove the microphone driver. then click the button Repair or Update in Download & update menu to download and install proper drivers for Windows 10 Fall Creators Update/Creators Update/Anniversary Update.
If the same problem keeps reoccurring, you may need to try other methods below.

I have this same exact problem now. Many years later than the OP.
I also have to disable then re-enable the sound settings under recording.
I have an M-Audio Air 192|8 audio interface.
I also have it set as the default Global Audio Devices, - Desktop Audio
Any news how to fix this?
