Question / Help Mic Problems With OBS

I'll start by saying that I have an Audio Technica AT2020 and for some reason when I'm in my TeamSpeak, my mic is perfect. The quality is beautiful and it picks up no background noise.

However, when I use OBS my mic becomes extremely sensitive, but only for the recording. It still sounds perfect in the TeamSpeak, but OBS seems to be picking up more sound. I've tried using the noise gate and turning down my recording audio in OBS, but it still picks up my keyboard and other background noises. Does anyone have any idea what's happening?

TeamSpeak has built in ambient noise reduction. OBS uses the direct, raw signal that your mic is providing.

Noise Gate will not help. It's essentially an 'auto-mute' when the mic audio level drops below a certain input dB level. It filters out no background noise whatsoever.

About the only way to handle this is to move the mic closer to your mouth, and run it at a lower gain level. That or eliminate the background noise, as the AT2020(/2035/4040/etc) is designed as a studio microphone, and expected to be used under acoustically-controlled situations. It's all about catching every sound; the higher the quality of mic, the more sound it picks up. Including (especially) the more subtle ambient noise. Because that's what it's designed to do.
