Mic always live

Hi all,

I am fairly new to this but I've had a look through the forums and can't find a solution to my problem.

I have set up a good few scenes and a few sources in each however many of them do not contain a microphone but my mic is always live and I am unable to turn it off. I have set a hot key up for for push to talk and this does kill the mic feed but this isn't ideal. I can turn the mic down on the mixer but if I am on a scene with no microphone input then the option to pull the fader down goes.

All my global sources are set to disabled, I can't find any other sources that are using my mic and now I am getting frustrated.

Can anyone help?
Thanks

Did you manage to solve this issue, Iain? I'm having exactly the same problem. As soon as I add an Audio Monitor filter to a microphone and route that to Zoom using a virtual cable, the microphone feeds Zoom constantly, even when there's no microphone in the selected scene.

Removing the Audio Monitor filters from the microphone source, setting the Monitoring Device to VB Cable A in Settings Audio, and the Advanced Audio Properties for the microphone with the Audio Monitoring set to Monitor Only, made no difference. The microphone was still audible in Zoom constantly, even when it wasn't present as a source in that scene.

Original Poster - Is Desktop Audio a Source in your Scenes? if yes, that is most likely your issue
Start with OS config of Audio. IF mic going to OS (or other App which is outputting to Desktop Audio), then mic is live.
Hence the windows audio plugin https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/win-capture-audio.1338/
or the more brute force approach I used of simply disabling all OBS Default Audio sources, and only adding explicitly desired Audio sources to my Scenes (which works great for me, but won't in all circumstances... it depends)

Maybe one or more of these will help OBS Audio related articles
