Question / Help Major frame drop while recording with facecam

Hi,
So iv'e been using OBS for quite some time now to record gameplay footage, and it always did the job well.

Recently i decided i would like to make some facecam videos aswell, so i bought a new webcam (Logitech C920) and started recording footage.

But as soon as i did that i noticed that games i would normally record fine without any frame drops are dropping frames all the time, the footage is awful and freezes all the time and my game is at about 40 FPS when it's usually at a steady 60 FPS.

Thou i should mention that this happens when i record pretty "Heavy" games, such as Battlefield 3/4, and when i tried to record some footage of Worms Revolution for example with a facecam it worked well.

I just find it a bit odd that the facecam can cause so much problems with the footage, because as i said, when i record those games without a facecam it works just fine, it's the facecam that makes it problematic.

Is there something in particulate that i can do to solve this issue? or will i just need to record gameplay and facecam footage seperatly?

I have the same webcam... It is 1080p so you are adding another 1080p source to your recording.. And yeah that is heavy..

I have the same with my follower notifier.. It uses screencapture so another 1080p source.. When its on i stream 20fps.. when i turn it off it goes to 30fps..

You can try lowering it's resolution.. Not by scaling it down but with the settings.

Bump :>

oh and BTW, now even "Light" games like Worms Revolution or Five Nights At Freddy's which i had no problem with the facecam begore are now doing the same thing, is there anything i can do beside recording gameplay and facecam separately?

Lower the webcam resolution to something like 1280x720 and see if that helps with performance.

It worked well with 720P facecam and 30 FPS game capture on the "light" games, but still, when i try to record Minecraft for example the frames in my game are dropping to 50 and in my recording to 15...
