MacOS Lagging Video capture

Hi all, apologies if this has been answered but I can’t find anything.

I am having some issues with my set up and can’t work out what is causing it.

my set up:

- Mac Mini 2018 3Ghz i5 6 Core CPU (64GB RAM) with eGPU
- Microscope with blackmagic decklink mini PCIE HDMI capture card in an Echo Express TBT 3 enclosure
- Microscope camera 4K 60FPS

my issue is that the tracking on OBS and recording is really laggy and slow. It’s not smooth like some of the videos I see online.

I have my recording settings as x264 and video settings as 60FPS and 1080P.

Does anyone know if this is just a hdmi capture issue? Or is it the Mac’s hardware itself obviously having the poor integrated graphics?

thanks
Jamie

I have the eGPU plugged in but there is no option for it on OBS. The card is an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT. I believe this is an Apple Mac compatibility issue? Have uploaded the log file.

You're downscaling your output to 720. Set it to 1080.

It is at least seeing the Radeon and loading Open GL on it. I would try whatever different encoding options you have. I'm not sure how OBS interacts with en eGPU, haven't used one.

I tried both 720 and 1080 but no luck. I have Apple VT software and hardware + a third option of x264.
Which would be best? I have tried all so guess I am stuck
