Question / Help Low video FPS allthough game runs smooth

Hi there and happy holidays :)

When trying to record using OBS I get acceptable FPS ingame, but the video output is well below 10 FPS.

Looking at the log file I see LOTS of duplicated frames, seemingly due to the unusually high CopyResource time. I've tried everything I can think of: various settings in OBS from low quality to high quality, using screen capture and game capture, going from lowest to highest game settings,... I would really appreciate any ideas on how to get this running.

Also, from what I could find on the internet it might just be, that the GeForce 260 GTX has some weird issue with CopyResource. Any info on that?

Thank in advance

TheMic

I tried recording Skyrim and found the resulting video to be much better albeit the game stressing my card way more and the FPS being lower (sometimes visibly below 30 FPS). I tried this using game capture and screen capture with the latter giving slightly better results. The CopyResource time is still not awesome (about 14 ms) but the result is actually usable.

I agree, that the GTX 260 is a little dated, but it served me well up to this point and I wouldn't want to give it up without a fight ;)

the only way to record somehow decent with an gtx 260 is downscale by a lot usually 480p@30 works just fine but you wont get anything stable at 720p .... the gtx 260 is an old card its still performing good but its old

This is a known issue with the 2xx series unfortunately. Doesn't seem to occur with any adapters that were made after that series.

Hmm... that's so weird. NVidia, what did you do this time? Well, maybe I'll dig into this some more, if I find the time.

Thanks anyways guys :)

Well, I mean it IS an old card. ATI cards from the same time are also pretty slow with OBS.
