Hey guys, I recently upgraded my very crap internet, to the crap internet and set up my stream last night, but I am still getting horrible quality. My down/up speed is 25down / 2.5 - 3up. I have been reading that non twitch partners should stream at 2000 bitrate/buffer @ 720p for the best settings.

Now, I set my bitrate/buffer to 2000, 720p downscale, and started streaming. Stream went flawless, 0% dropped frames and always an excellent connection; however, when I viewed it, as well as others, the stream looks like its in 480p.

I don't understand how the quality looks so bad on twitch when streaming, when I am getting a stable connection, 0 dropped frames, and my settings should be good? Any help?

PC specs:
i5-4690k
16gb 2400 ram
gtx 970
Evo 840 SSD

OBS settings:
Quality Balance 10
2000 birate/buffer
1080p resoultion downscaled to 720p @ 30fps
Filter - Middle choice.
veryfast preset
CBR on
CFR on

My settings run smooth, just the output to twitch is not 720p. Feel free to ask any questions.

(Just thought of this: I had to capture my stream through window capture, because game capture is not working for some reason)

Try game capture and play in full screen.

For some reason, when I do game capture, it says its capturing my game, but will not show up on the obs window. It will only work with window capture. Also, I play in fullscreen window mode because I have 3 monitors and want to play my game on the second monitor, not my default 1st monitor. What would making it fullscreen have to do with it?

Thanks for the response, any changes in OBS I need to do? Should I change my filter to best samples?

With a bitrate of only 2000, the picture quality will suffer. There is not enough bits per pixel.

I downscale to 1.75, bicubic filter, 26 frames - this allows for more bits per pixel and a sharper image.

720p@30fps, 2000kbps is one of the best tradeoff points. It's never going to look 1:1, just pretty decent.

That said, you're also capturing ArmA III; Arma 2 (and DayZ) have been pretty notorious for being hard on encoders. I'd expect that A3 is much the same, given Bohemia Interactive's standard approach to "quality" in code, which means that game specifically may require more bitrate to maintain image quality.

Do you have a link to a VOD showing the quality level issue?
