Question / Help Low framerate when previewing/streaming certain games

Hello. I'm currently experiencing an issue with OBS in which I try to set up a window capture for the game Divinity: Original Sin, Now I understand this game just came out, and isn't exactly fully optimized for every graphics card out there, however when I set the stream up, and preview it, I get a massive dip in framerate, from the defalt 30fps I have all my games set to in OBS, to 2-5 frames per second, however when I click out of the window, and have the preview stream still active, it shoots back up to 30fps, the FPS dip only occurs when I actually play the game. I'll provide a log. My CPU usage when previewing the stream is incredibly low, however I believe the game has yet to be optimized for graphics cards, so it may very well be that I need to wait for a new driver/SLI profile.

Current Specs:

Graphics card(s): GTX460x2 SLI system

CPU: Intel core-i7 950

RAM: Corsair 6gb.

To add; My CPU useage barely peaks over 40% and my ram usage sits around 75-85% with no issues, the only thing I notice is my one GPU going at 99%, while the other sits around 10%, it could be that the game just needs optimizing, but I want to be sure.

I've been playing the game myself. The game seems to be a bit lacking in optimization. I probably wouldn't recommend window capture, I would most likely recommend game capture.

Edit: I just checked it, and the capture seems fine, though the difference with me is that I have a single 760 graphics card.

Hm, I just noticed you have SLI too, which doesn't play well with capturing of any kind. SLI has always had issues with capturing. I really need to find a way to make a better SLI-compatible capture, I have ideas but they really will require a lot of work in the future.

Anyway, I'm betting the issue is because 1.) you're using SLI, and 2.) your video cards are a bit older, 4xx series is not all that recent, though I haven't really heard of any major issues with them before.

I think it is more the lack of optimization with the game itself, since only ONE video card is working, while the other is idling, I'll try again once they add a profile for it, and see if that makes a difference, I can play games like strike vector, where it only uses one of my cards at 99%, and I get no frame rate dips what so ever, granted my cards are somewhat old, but I've had no issues regarding SLI and capturing with OBS, it's just this game in particular since none of my other graphically intense newer titles don't give me any issues.

And I do look forward to a possible SLI-compatible capture in the future! however I do believe it's simply just the fact that divinity itself needs optimization, I tried running it in game capture, and it did somewhat work, but it wasn't much better unfortunately. Thank you so much for the help/suggestions however!

Unfortunately SLI doesn't play well with streaming. Also, with your setup, if you're using x.264 it could be utilizing a majority of your CPU for your streaming, Plus, as stated Divinity is a bit of an Unoptimized game.
