Question / Help Low FPS while streaming and quicksync

Heyo!

I got a pretty decent build and pulling 300 fps while not streaming. Whenever I turn on OBS my FPS drops down to about 100-150 and it spikes really, really bad while sing the x264 encoder. I've tried using the quicksync option, and that really works well with the FPS, not really noticing any serious fps drops then, but like many others I get the "qsvhelper.exe was killed encode failed", also the quality turns out pretty horrible.

This is my setup, I think I easily should be able to pull 150 fps even without using the quicksync option.
Processor - intel-core-i5-3570k-3-4-ghz-ivy-bridge
Motherboard - GA-Z77M-D3H
GPU - geforce-gtx-660t
Memory - Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 16GB CL9

Posting a log aswell: https://gist.github.com/e969e2091d1017c09854

Does anyone have any tips at all? Really desperate here.

If you want us to see what OBS is doing during x264, you need to post a logfile with x264 being used. a few tricks you can do are:
disable the OBS preview windows (right click on the preview, click preview again, then uncheck "enable view"
and raise your in-game resolution.

I've also noticed that lower in-game resolutions will often cause higher CPU usage than higher resolutions, higher resolutions will often use more GPU. anyway, food for thought, if your CPU is at 100 it will often cause lower fps. this is why QSV is working well for you I would assume.

Also, What launch options do you run with CS:GO?

I streamed for about 3 hours today to make a log. I play and stream at 1280x1080 on a 1920x1080 monitor. The quality as well as the performance is pretty horrible as you can see from http://www.twitch.tv/bankalicious/b/667455851

Launch options for cs:go are only 150 fps limited FPS (I had that tips before) and -freq 144.

Thanks a ton for the response, much love. I will try your tips tomorrow after work :)
So I have two thoughts,

1. try raising your in-game resolution to 1080 and set a downscale in OBS from 1080 to 720. it might sounds odd but the GPU is used more and CPU is used less at higher resolutions.

2. keep your in-game resolution but use an OBS base resolution of 720 with no downscale.

and of course, disable the OBS preview window once you have everything setup properly:
right click on the preview window, click preview again, the uncheck "enable view"

post a fresh log (meaning restart OBS, stream for 5 minutes, then post log) if it doesn't get the desired affect.
I honestly think that i5's are not meant for streaming while gaming but can do it. Can doesn't mean it does it flawlessly though.

Also, for the time being, disable the web cam or lower the resolution of it down further, sometimes that can help as well.
