Hey guys, small ish streamer here. (setup below) - 3060 GPU not included in the photo fyi.
So i am having on and off issues with obs with the 4k x freezing for no reason. - sometimes its fine for 3 hours, other times it will freeze twice in 20 minutes. its plugged into the motherboard via the provided usb c cable, with 4k 120 hz passthrough and 1080p 60 sdr capture, so no issues from there.
All usb c/a 3.0 slots are taken up in the back of the PC with the following:
4k x plugged into the USB C port
webcam (elgato)
mic
usb splitter etc for mouse and keyboard
but nothing like out of the ordinary. ive seen 1 other post with this motherboard moaning about this issue.
I have ordered a usb C to A cable to try and use the other ports to see if its related to the C port, but honestly there is no good reason, minus the fact the CPU is lightly under spec, but i dont get any encoding issues, or general windows freezing, High CPU usage etc, and nothing else in OBS also freezes minus the 4k x.
To resolve, i need to unplug the USB c cable and replug in, the 4k goes blue and then i need to deactivate and reactivate and good to go until it freezes again. the connection to the 4k x stays active as the 4k x still shows blue and on etc, and i still have an image on my monitor which is why i dont notice any issues until someone in my chat complains that the gameplay has froze. - if it was an issue with the C port it wouldnt work to begin with??
I record as well as stream so maybe will try with not recording at the same time but its not as if everything else freezes or crashes, its just this one thing. (the 4k x)
anyone know of anything i can try to resolve this? i read and it could be a usb power save setting perhaps or something, but the problem is inconsistent.
*UPDATE* - i have turned off fast boot, turned off USB power saving settings and still had issues. - i also disabled Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS) - as i also read this could cause issues. i have chopped and changed my exsisting usb 3 devices in the back of my pc to see if its a USB motherboard bus issue or whatever its called, did 2 hours recording just idle on cod last night and all good here, so unsure if i have fixed it.
Just wondering in the meantime of fully confirming this is fixed if anyone has came across issues like this before on OBS? only plug ins of note are streamelements and the verticle plug in, other than that its fairly light on the ground when it comes to potential conflicts.
