Question / Help Looking for HDMI Capture Device for Canon DSLR / GoPro

I am looking for some way to get a good strong feed from a Canon 77d (I know it doesn't have a clean HDMI output, but its what I got; I'm willing to take the crop) and a GoPro Hero 6 Black. I recently drove an hour to a Best Buy to pick up an Elgato HD60S only to get home with it and realize that it is essentially a paperweight if you own a mac.

I have been looking around and seen suggestions for some of the Blackmagic products, but I can't afford anything much more expensive than the Elgato (purchased for $130, willing to go up to $150-ish). I really need the feed from these camera's versus a stronger webcam because I am utilizing the smooth focusing mechanism in either. My feed regularly does close ups of items and then pulls back and needs to seamlessly focus between both with stellar color accuracy, my business depends on it.

So please, give me your suggestions in terms of a good HDMI Capture Device. If you have samples from a stream or a link where I can take a look at your setup and/or results, that would be very much appreciated!
