I have installed the windows version of the plugin via the installer, and when I apply the filter with its default settings, OBS crashes without any error message. (It also crashes when I restart it with the plugin still enabled.)

I'm on Windows 11, CPU 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12850HX, Nvidia RTX A1000 Laptop GPU.

Can someone help me please?

I have now updated to the newest version of OBS, and now I can configure the filter on an input audio source (microphone), but as soon as I start speaking, the circling cursor appears and OBS crashes completely.

Hi there, I'm having issues with the number of lines and amount per line, as when I change it and close this window, it reverts back to where it was. Why is that happening?
I tried the buffered output tick as well but that doesn't help at all. Also tried installing 0.3.8 to check if its working in the older version but still no luck.
P.s I'm using the CUDA version

I've installed and followed the tutorial.. I get between 30-180 secs of delay for just transcribing (as per first part of video)

I am running a PC with more than enough spec for this... am I missing something?

Hello all! I am new to trying to use LocalVocal (Windows 11) and am attempting to configure it on my PORTABLE installation of obs. While I can get obs to find the LocalVocal plugin, obs now crashes on startup.
My question(s):
- is LocalVocal meant to work with a portable install of obs?
- has anyone made this work or should I simply give in and install obs on my Windows 11 work PC?
As a general principle, I prefer to keep my non-corporate software portable on my company issued PC but I can make an exception if necessary.

Answering my own less-than-informed question partially: download the compiled plugin (zip files) from here and place in correct directories. Will update if I overcome crash on startup issue.

After installing OBS and LocalVocal (CPU version), I didn't have LocalVocal as an option in the Audio Filters. Installing the 2022 Microsoft C++ Redistributables for both x64 and x86 and rebooting the computer fixed it for me.

I started getting crashes as soon as I stopped any recording with the plugin active. In troubleshooting the problem and getting help from OBS devs, I found that the File Output Configuration setting "Rename file to match recording" was crashing the entire program. Toggling the setting did fix the crashes, but now the output will not save upon finishing the recording if I have both "Write output only while recording" and "Rename file to match recording" checked. I'm not sure what "Write output only while recording" is supposed to be doing because output is only being written while I'm recording whether I have it checked or not and if it's not checked, the file is not being renamed even if "Rename file to match recording" is checked. The attached files were from the last crash I had.

I can’t get Local Vocal 0.3.9 to run correctly in OBS Studio 31.1.2 (Windows 10 24H2).

What I’ve done so far​

1. Downloaded obs-localvocal-0.3.9-windows-x64-cpu.zip.
2. Unpacked the files:
   • obs-plugins\64bit\obs-localvocal.dll → C:\Program Files\obs-studio\obs-plugins\64bit\
   • data\obs-plugins\localvocal\* (index.html, settings.html, style.css) → C:\Program Files\obs-studio\data\obs-plugins\localvocal\
3. Launched OBS as Administrator, tried Docks ▸ Reset UI.
4. Docks menu now shows Local Vocal. The dock opens, but all I see is the splash screen
5. There is no “Local Vocal” entry under Tools.
6. Log says the plugin loads without errors:

[obs-localvocal] plugin loaded successfully (version 0.3.9)
but I don’t see any “Web panel registered” lines, etc.

System info​

• OBS Studio: 31.1.2 (64-bit)
• Plugin: obs-localvocal 0.3.9 (CPU build)
• Windows: 10 Pro 24H2 26100.4652
• CPU: Ryzen 7 7840HS
• GPU: RTX 4070 Laptop (NVENC works)

Issue​

The dock appears, but the settings/model-download UI never loads, so I can’t choose a Whisper model or select a microphone source.

I’ve attached a screenshot of the dock and the relevant log snippet.
Any ideas what else to check? Maybe I’m missing a file or need to tweak a path in the HTML?

Hi I am having a similar problem. The default tiny english model works well enough, but I want to try the small model for better accuracy and test out whisper translation. When I download another model I dont get any errors. It looks as if the DL worked fine, but the plugin doesnt work with the new model, no captions no translation. If I go back to tiny english it works fine. When I went to look for the files for new models to try and delete and redownload them I also cannot find them anywhere.

Where do the models DL to? What might be the issue with only the tiny english model working?

I found the problem for me. This domain no longer exists https://ggml.ggerganov.com/ which is where the plugin is trying to download the models from. But if you use the other link for models listed in the github page (https://huggingface.co/ggerganov/whisper.cpp/tree/main) then you can find the models and download them and either name the folders correctly from the json file or just select your own model in the plugin.

please can you add main audio output or scene audio, so as to transcribe for all source instead of just a source. for the current architecture you need to add audio output capture and that only works if audio monitoring is enable and also sound from other applications can come on that device which does not make that method ideal

Don't worry, it's completely broken now in OBS 32. There was git issue open on the Github that seemed to be ignored back when OBS 32-beta was out.
Hasn't been updated in a while. :|
