Hello and thank you for your help in advance. Every time I try to record something with obs, the recordings look pale and colorless when compared with fraps. I understand that fraps records lossless and therefore the quality is better but I aim for a good quality/file size combination. On the other hand when I try to record with OBS the file size is good but the picture is so pale and colorless that I can't stand it. Is there any way to make the picture closer to Fraps's picture but still keep lower file size?

Have you tried using the local recording guide?

Without a log file, can't really say much else.

Can you explain to me what's a log file? I'll upload a side by side comparison of fraps and obs to show you what I mean and I'll upload my obs settings as well.

The fifth sticky post down on this forum, where it says "Problem? Make sure to post a log and/or crash dump -- HOWTO" ... click that.

It should be common knowledge to check the sticky posts before you make a help request on any internet forum.

My main concern is if it's even possible to fix that colorlessness since it could be a result of the reduced file size. The only difference between 1080p 60 fps fraps recording and obs recording is just that the colors are less saturated. Here's an example of the difference and my obs settings

I still want a log file.

You're using UltraFast preset, which turns off a lot of compression features that can't be overcome with bitrate. Even though you tried by using CRF=1. Use SuperFast preset or better for higher quality captures. Don't use extremely low CRF values if you want to be able to do anything with the video file afterwards.

You should try encoding in Full Range color. This sounds like the problem to me actually.

And fraking turn CFR (constant frame rate) back on.
