Question / Help Livestream Flickering

Hello everyone! I want to start off by saying that I LOVE OBS. I've been using it for about a year now and I haven't had any problems! ...Until now, that is.
First I'll explain my issue, it seems that whenever I try to livestream a game called Gothic, all of the stationary objects (I.E. Rocks, Trees, Fences, etc.) seem to flicker, and what's more is any form of water source seems to be doing the same thing! Characters and items that I can pick up, or interact with seem to be unaffected.
The craziest part is, it only flickers once it goes through OBS!
It's perfectly fine on my end, no flickering, no bugs, nothing, but sure enough, OBS' display as well as my archived stream show the game flickering like crazy. I'm assuming this is an OBS issue since the game appears totally perfect on my end, but I'm just hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Here's an example of what I mean:

Cheers guys, and thanks in advance! :)

Hi R1CH! Thanks for the speedy reply! I wouldn't have been using it if it wasn't a last resort. Game capture seems to yield only a black screen and audio capture before crashing the game. This seems to be the only factor in the crash as turning off game capture and doing the exact same things in game do not cause a crash. Is there some work around, or is it possible that Gothic simply isn't compatible with the Game Capture option?

Turn on Aero, and use a Game Capture of the DWM process instead. It's the workaround-monitor-capture for Windows 7, since normal monitor cap under W7 is terribad and slow. Only will cap your primary monitor, but it's better than the alternatives.

Gothic uses DirectX 8, and OBS Game Cap needs DX9 to work properly. If you're using the DX11 'workaround', it may not actually be compliant and just be a process hook similar to SweetFX (which doesn't work with OBS either).

Are you using an Aero theme? Can't be running Basic.

Right-click Desktop->Personalize then scroll up and pick an Aero theme if you're currently on a Basic. Can customize it further from there to taste.

Ah, silly me, I didn't even realize, I normally prefer basic so that's what I had it set to by default.
I swapped to an Aero theme, and I can indeed select DWM under game capture, but it seems as though I'm still getting a blank/black screen on OBS, whether I'm in the game or just at my desktop.

Is there something else I'm missing?

Also, off topic, I must say; I love how professionally you run your twitch channel, but how on earth have you been able to keep the glare out of your glasses!? I always have to resort to contacts.

Interesting, that usually works unless the game is fullscreen. If that's the case, may want to look into a windowed mode launcher/wrapper, similar to Chaoslauncher for the original Starcraft. Are you playing the original DX8 version, or the DX11 revamp? If not the latter, could be worth a shot.

Also, having Aero on will dramatically improve OBS' performance in Window Captures, and somewhat in Game Captures.

Well thanks much! :) Something I love, so I pour a lot of time into it.
Careful lighting, mostly. 45 degree oblique offsets keep the lights from reflecting directly at the camera off my lenses, and I use softboxes and wall-bounced diffuse light as much as possible to give a softer look.

I was using DX8, but just tried the DX11 revamp and to my surprise, everything is working! I can capture using both the DWM and Game Capture modes! Now I can stream Gothic in all it's glory, with it's fps and enhanced graphics mods! It does seem to come to a random black screen every now and then, which appears to be a side effect of the DX11 "mod".

And I may have to try some form of angled/softer lighting then! I didn't know it was possible for us glasses guys to make it work! :D

Yup, OBS needs at least DX9 to game capture things. :) Definitely use GC on the game if possible. Glad to hear it's working!

Well, i'll be sure to look for ways to play older games with at least DX9 now! Didn't even know games needed DX 9+ to be captured. I guess I was thinking of it more as a video capture like Camtasia or Fraps or something, which I guess are more so screen capture than game output capture, upon further thought.
