Question / Help Literally no audio through headphones

I've done practice recordings on my OBS after setting everything up with my Blue Yeti mic, my Logitech c920 webcam, and my Elgato HD to stream some Batman on my xbox360 (preparing for the Arkham Knight hype, [which I will play on Steam...anyways])

My audio from my mic is perfectly synced with my video from my webcam, and it's all synced up to the game audio/video as well. My recordings couldn't make me happier.....except WHILE I'm recording, i have NOTHING. No audio whatsoever. There is legit no audio being played while I'm "previewing stream" or "recording". (I can't react to being shot at by snipers because unless I turned on the vibration in my controller, I'd have no indication anything was happening other than Batman twitching a bit. D:!)

Even with the 3.5mm jack from the headphones plucked out of my main speakers, nothing. I'm SUPER GLAD it seems my audience will hear everything...I just wish I could.

This isn't a fancy headset either, as I have a mic separate. These are just basic over-the-ear headphones. Specifically JVC Stereo Headphones HA-RX300

Please help! Thank you!

these seem popular to post so here's my log file:

That's weird. Are you playing on a separate TV, using an HDMI splitter (or passthrough, if the HD60 has a pass port)? So the TV isn't getting any audio?

If you're trying to play on the OBS preview, there are many reasons NOT to do this (including significant amounts of delay, as the HD60 is still a USB device). You can most likely get audio from there though by going into your video capture device settings, and switching the audio from 'to stream' to 'to desktop'.

yeah I tried the "to desktop" and it was SUPER delayed and choppy...not at all like what my recordings sound like when it's set to "to stream".

So, I actually don't have the Elgato HD through HDMI to a tv...since I don't really have the room for a tv on my desk, I have the HDMI Out connected to a DVI-D converter and it's plugged into the monitor that has the speakers I plugged my 3.5mm jack headphones in to hear. Perhaps that's the problem? Do I absolutely have to have the Elgato HD HDMI to a TV and plug my headphones in that? :/

Seems like your xbox is routing audio through the hdmi.

how do I fix that, lol?
ok so that is fine, I think the issue actually is that DVI does not pass audio to a monitor. do you have a HDMI in on your monitor? if so, use that. If your HDMI-to-DVI adapter has an audio out, that would work as well, but most dont.

no it doesn't have an HDMI-anything...both monitors are HDMI-less. now I'm seeing why people use TV's lol. So if that's the case....i guess I have to make a Best Buy run, lol!

Or get an HDMI to DVID with an audio out.

Legit on hold right now with Best Buy...they're looking for one. They said that they usually see a HDMI->VGA with a separate Audio Out....would that work too?
I dont think so. Also, there is a big difference between an HDMI out to DVI in with audio in, and an HDMI in to DVI out with audio out. you might be better off just getting a real TV with headphones out.

You and the Best buy guy agreed. At least a 19" Dynex tv is in my price range, so I'm off to get one. Now I gotta figure out a purpose for the new Dell monitor I bought to be my second monitor, lol.

Thank you very much dping for your help! I go live tomorrow (same user name) so hopefully it'll all work out!

I take monitors as payments Kappa. no, gl with the stream.

Just a note, DVI absolutely DOES have the ability to carry audio. It's a common mis-conception that it can't.
Whether or not your monitor has provisions for a headphone port or speakers is entirely another ball of wax.
