- I just started streaming using OBS to twitch.

-I after reading a couple of forums doing my own tweaking and testing to obs i got it to the point where LOL plays ok with a stable fps of 60 but my ping goes from 60-100 back to 60, than shoots up to 300 than shoots back down continuously. The lag inbetween the game is really annoying i havent had this before on my older laptop also.

My laptop specs are (WIndows 8)
- HP Envy TS m6
- Processor: AMD a10-5745m apu with radeon(tm) hd graphics (4 cpu) ~2.1gh quad core
-Memory : 6144mb ram
- Chip type: AMD radeon 8610g
- i5 64bit operating system

Re: League of legends lag during gameplay

If you're getting high ping, that means your stream and the game are competing too much for your internet connection. First try enabling "Minimize Network Impact" in Broadcast Settings, and if that still doesn't help, try lowering the bit rate that you are streaming at.

Re: League of legends lag during gameplay

I would like to contribute with my own findings.

I used XSplit and OBS at the time. Both apps used identical streaming options, for instance:

Bitrate: 1000 CBR
Preset: veryfast
Sound: 48kbs AAC
Tried both Amsterdam and Frankfurt server to exclude server load issue as culprit

What i found out is, when using XSplit i get ingame lag and rubberbanding, slow response from my champ, and ping went nuts.

Then i set OBS in the same way as XSplit and magicaly all the issues disapeared. Stream got smooth with exactly the same settings as used in XSplit. Which i found really weird.

Also, i was able to use Slow preset in OBS, while XSplit was giving me headaches even on veryfast preset.

My PC is i5 with 8 gigs of ram and 6850 as GPU, and it all run fine while streaming on Win7 x64. Then i switched to Win 8.1 x64 and i was unable to use Slow preset, i was getting those warnings CPU too slow to encode or something even on some faster presets than Slow.

Dunno how it all comes together, but it appears like a weird mix of parameters that affect streaming capability of a PC. Either its encoding preset, or windows version, or maybe faulty gpu drivers or who knows.

Too many things could affect streaming performace it seems

Re: League of legends lag during gameplay

Rubber, you're getting dropped frames. Which means that you're most likely streaming at a bitrate higher than your connection can actually provide on a consistent basis, in conjunction with the game's network overhead. This would also contribute to the fluctuating ping problem that you've noticed.
You may need to switch ingest servers to find one that works better for you, or lower your bitrate.

You're running at 360p video. 1800kbps is MASSIVE OVERKILL. That's more than enough for a 720p stream, assuming your APU can actually keep up with it. Actually, 1500kbps is enough for a 720p@30fps stream with acceptable quality.

THANKS EVERYONE!

Took everyone's replys in and touched up my obs, Now its running fine with a standard 60fps with a steady 70 ping whole game was able to play 3 rank games pefectly.

- What i did was change my bit rate from clocking it to 1800 - 2000 TO 1500-1500 and it worked amazing, With also minimize network impact everything runs fine. Thank you all!
