Question / Help LATENCY RECORDING & ADVANCED SCENE SWITCHER OBS STUDIO NOT WORKING

ANY HELP IS HUGE!!!!!

2 ISSUES ANY HELP WOULD BE AMAZING.
Hi new to the forum 1ST POST
1. Advanced scene switcher does not work in any tab, I created scenes tried to use in all formats all tabs hit start it never runs?
2. When recording (not streaming yet) to obs studio there is latency audio and video are not sync. Is there any quick settings to set up bitrate buffers etc.

Don't record in mp4. A crash, power failure, hard drive filling up, whatever-- leads to an unrecoverable file. Record in mkv or flv and transcode after. OBS can even do it automatically.

Edit > Advanced Audio Properties

You can configure an offset here to compensate for a constant difference in audio timing.

Not sure what you mean by "created scenes tried to use in all formats"

Advanced Scene Switcher operates by having a series of rules that determine when to switch between scenes. Hitting start lets it start to work, but it will only switch when the conditions for a rule are met.

with advanced scene switcher it doesn't matter which tab I select I have tried scene sequence, random, transitions by adding my scenes no success yet. in random and sequence i have 9 entries written.

Also I am on windows 10 flv is not native, I have no prob recording to mp3 the main issue is the advanced scene switcher,
 
Yes, until you encounter any problem whatsoever and the entire recording is unrecoverable. It is not recommended that anyone record directly to mp4, for any reason, ever. There is literally no reason to do so. If you have any software (players, editors) that do not read flv or mkv natively, use the Remux feature under the File menu to quickly remux your recording directly in OBS, or configure OBS to automatically remux after recording is complete.

There are multiple threads in this forum of users begging for ways to recover hours of important footage they recorded directly to mp4, and there is essentially no way to help them except to advise them NOT to record directly in mp4 to start with. There is no reason to.



Test the function of Advanced Scene Switcher with a simple rule:

Go to the Idle Detection tab of Advanced Scene Switcher.

Check the "Enable Idle Detection" checkbox.

Enter a value of "10s" for "after XX seconds of no input" switch to scene "previous scene" using the Fade transition.

Then go back to the General tab of Advanced Scene Switcher, click the Start button, and close the advanced switcher window.

Now switch scenes manually and stop all mouse input and wait ten seconds.

If Advanced Scene Switcher is working, it should transition from the scene you just selected to the previously selected scene.
 
also I have removed the standard scene switcher dll and it is still in the menu but also does not function
 
is it possible that the automatic scene switcher is causing advanced from running? I have removed it completely from my pc but it is still on the tools tab?
 
If it is still in the UI then it hasn't been removed.

Automatic Scene Switcher also has an on/off switch in its UI. If it is not on, it is not running and should not interfere with Advanced Scene Switcher. I have both installed and available in the UI to use and they do not interfere with one another.
 
yes I tried that prior to posting, it is turned off. if it is working on the idle setting only to switch to 1 scene. Will not switch to several scenes listed on the random tab when set to random on the general tab
 
So you have it set to:

* When no switch condition is met, Switch to any scene on the random tab

And then you've added multiple scenes in the Random tab

And then you Start the switcher

And it does nothing?

Just tried it here as well-- it seems to be functioning with the latest OBS and the latest version of the plugin.

Never had a crash until now....I got the advanced scene switcher working on random, but when I followed your instructions not to use mp4 to use flv or mkv instead OBS Studio crashes repeatedly, randomly and during normal operation. The Advanced scene switcher stops after about 1:15 the recording continues to capture video but the scene it crashed on is the one that records until I press stop recording.

The video does not stop recording a/v but OBS crashes and I have to force stop and restart application. I Realize you stated not to use mp4 due to recovery but if it worked before with no losses why change it now?

Not sure if advanced scene switcher is causing the crash, I have the settings back at mp4 and it is still crashing.

Narcogen please advise on configuration, thanks so much for your time
 
OBS should not crash just because of recording in a different format, or while using the switcher.

You may wish to try deleting your user data and reinstalling, and try experimenting with the switcher and your target media format (container, codec) with a minimal scene configuration until you're sure the program is doing what you want, how you want.
 
mp4, mov, mkv, avi, flv are containers. They are file extensions, file formats.

h264, prores, AVC (h265). These are video codecs, they are compressors for encoding video information.

OBS works properly with all the codecs it supports. With the possible exception of enabling advanced (ffmpeg) output and manually choosing potentially incompatible containers and codecs, just choosing from the available options for streaming or recording doesn't cause OBS to crash, nor does changing them prevent OBS from crashing.

It is possible that your preference files, scene collection, or profile(s) became damaged, which can be resolved by uninstalling and deleting user data and then rebuilding your scenes and other settings from scratch.
 
Understood, I reinstalled OBS, and upgraded from 8 to 16 gb ram,

in regular operation idle does not crash, but even without recording I have 3 hd cams if I turn on advanced scene switcher after about 1 minute OBS stops responding. If I don't use switcher I have no issues
