Question / Help Lag with twitch.tv

Heya there OBS people! I've been trying to setup everything for streaming but I have a "huge" problem, twitch tv. I used to stream to hashd.tv without any lag using their amsterdam server (i think), everything was fine with 1080p 30fps or 720p 60fps, but now when hashd is down or something I got to find something to replace it.

So, im streaming with 100/50 fiber connection from Finland, I have Haswell build with Xeon 1230v3, GTX 760, 8gb ram so everything should be fine here

OBS settings I have set for 720p 30fps stream are ~
3000 bitrate (tried everything from 2800 to 3600, no success)
quality 8
audio bitrate 160
server, frankfurt DE, also tried stockholm (lagged even more...)
resolution scaled to 1280x720, bilinnear 30fps

Twitch.tv recordings look totally fine, its just the stream that keeps freezing every 5-10 sec for a second
I've pretty much tried every possible settings, twitch just lags like hell for me. If someone could post another good site or maybe find a fix here I'd be really grateful :)

Re: Lags with twitch.tv

If the recording looks fine but the stream does not, and you're not dropping frames in OBS, then Twitch is getting your stream data just fine. The problem, instead, is with you watching the stream while streaming out. Try watching the stream on a different device, or from a different network, or get a friend to check for you. Or, if you must watch the stream while streaming, then lower the bit rate to an easier-to-watch bit rate, such as 2000.

Hey and thanks for your advice, but I had few of my friends watching and they all faced the same lags and freezes so again im clueless :(

edit: And no I wasn't watching at the same time, btw how could it affect so much?

Re: Lags with twitch.tv

Whatever bit rate you stream at, viewers have to have that amount of download speed from the Twitch server to watch it smoothly. If you're streaming and watching at the same time, you're using a lot of bandwidth and might be clogging your own internet connection. Other viewers might not be able to download from the Twitch server at the speed you are streaming at (3000kbps).

Try a lower bit rate, like 2000 (like I suggested before) and see if you encounter the same problems.

Its a problem on twitch. most common in europe. twitch gets all your data but can not send out all the data. or that is how i understand it. if you use a vpn to get an american ip you will probably see that you stream has stopped lagging.

Re: Lags with twitch.tv

Thanks for the answers guys, I thought it had something to do with twitch.tv servers because I had exactly the same settings on hashd and it didn't lag at all :/
