Question / Help KotOR 2: The Sith Lords

Hey guys,
I've been trying to record KotOR 2 for several days now. I've patched and modded the game to make it play stable (steam version wouldn't play at all when downloaded) but when I start recording with OBS it crashes constantly. I generally can't get through 20 mins of gameplay without a game crash. Anyone that has experience with recording this game with OBS I would love to chat with you regarding game settings and OBS settings to see if I can record it successfully.
My specs:
i5-4570 CPU @ 3.2GHz
16 GB RAM
Win 7x64-bit
nVidia GTX 660 Ti

I tried windowed mode, but my FPS dropped to 5-10 so that was unplayable.
I'm not worried about the in game movies not recording, I can always splice them in during post. I just need the game to stop crashing so I can play and record. I've been able to play for over an hour, but once I start recording with OBS it crashes constantly.
I am using NVENC but I tried x264 and it crashed too.
I can provide loads of more info, but I don't know what might be pertinent so feel free to ask questions.

I know that the first Kotor has problems with game capture, at least.

I've used this info to get KOTOR2 running more or less crash free: http://steamcommunity.com/app/32370/discussions/0/810923021632592525/ though personally I would replace the "Flawless Widescreen" steps with this: http://www.wsgf.org/dr/star-wars-knights-old-republic-ii-sith-lords (make sure you grab the modified HUD files for your aspect ratio!!!!!) and then use this to run in borderless windowed mode: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2675769 I'm pretty sure I ended up just having to play the game in fullscreen, however.

The full file was over 20MB in size I have other similarly sized logs from every time I've tried to record KotOR2. I looked it over but must admit it doesn't mean much to me.

That was a really good guide. It put pretty much all the tricks I've already used into one spot. The Flawless Widescreen I had seen but not tried. I tired it based on this guide but could not get it to work. You got Flawless Widescreen to work with KotOR2? It has an option for KotOR but not 2. Could you hook me up with a few more details on how you got the widescreen program to affect KotOR2?

Well, like I said I recommend using the wsgf.org method instead of Flawless Widescreen, because I think you're right it only works for KOTOR1 (recently played them both back to back so I could have gotten mixed up which trick I did for which game) and you need to use UniWS for KOTOR. UniWS is pretty easy to use, just follow the directions on the link I gave you to the wsgf.org site.
