Just a newbie question about hearing a prerecorded video while it's playing

I've recorded 7 videos for posting so far. Everything is going smoothly, but I have one annoying issue. When I show a video, i.e. switch from my camera to a prerecorded video I can't hear the video in my headphones or speakers, I can see it playing. It records just fine with sound, but I can't hear the video and it would be nice to follow along on with the vidoes. Thanks.

Default is to Output audio (not monitor). So within your scene, on the pre-recorded video/audio, you need to go to Advanced Audio Properties and also Monitor (ie let you listen)

BUT ... beware... if you have an open mic, and you use speakers, you'll now get an echo (OBS is powerful... perfectly happy to let you shoot yourself in the foot). so the following references should help. To make life easier for myself when I started, I disabled all Global Audio, created unique scenes for pre-recorded videos (which don't have a mic in them), and used Advanced Scene Switcher to automate scene changes when video over. I also use Media Control plug-in so I can monitor time remaining on video

Thank you for replying. I'm sorry it took so long to find my way back here. I have my mic muted when I am playing videos and I discovered that after turning on that setting, I can now hear the videos in my headphone that is plugged into the mic.
