Question / Help Issues with frame drop

Hello OBS forums, thanks in advanced for taking the time to look at this and help me out.

So I've been trying to get my stream up and running for a while now and I've been plagued with lots of tech issues that have been stopping me from streaming. I recently just fixed a hardware issue causing my CPU to overheat and things were working smoothly... for a moment. Now I'm getting heavy frame drop when I stream. It seems random for the most part and I'm really not sure what it could be.

Computer Specs:
Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz
RAM - 8GB
Graphics - ASUS R9 270 Series
Running Windows 7

Let me know if there is any other information I could provide that would be helpful..
Not too sure what's going on.

Thanks again.

Yes I am wireless. I unfortunately have to have my computer set up away from the router with how the house is set up. Would this be effecting it that badly? I've streamed on wireless before and not had very many issues.

It can. Powerline networking might be a better option if you can't get a network cable run to connect it.

I tried using a powerline but I got crazy low speeds. Just ended up getting a wireless card and I've had much better luck with that.

Do you think this could be the only problem?
I get that it isn't ideal but this is a problem I can't really fix since I'm not allowed to connect directly to the router because of my roommates. Do you think there's anything else I could do to avoid this?

Internet security software is about the only other thing.

As for your powerline issue, it was probably because of the "two sides to an electrical panel" problem.

The house I'm in is fairly old so that's what I was told is the problem with it.
Said something about not having direct wiring?

And as far as internet security, I'm running Microsoft Security Essentials on default settings.

So I've tried now with a wired connection and I'm still having issues. I've changed servers as well and nothing seems to really help. All of the diagnostic things I've done show that I should be able to output a high quality stream but I'm not able to do so without lagging. We've called our ISP as well and they say that there isn't an issue on their end and we should have no issue with our package and the amount of uploading that we do.

I'm honestly really lost and I'm not sure what to do at this point.

I don't mean to intrude here, but I'm having very similar issues to Rachael. What caught my eye is how similar our OBS set ups, internet speeds, and hardware are. We're even using the same twitch ingest server (US West: Los Angeles), living in the same area, and using the same ISP. I know it's not an ISP issue on my end, my download and upload speed are very similar to Rachael's and I have no problem with any other internet activity, and I've tried all of the usual stuff from normal help threads and other twitch users.

Switching ingest servers does not help. LA, San Francisco, Dallas, San Jose, Seattle, Chicago, New York... I've tried all of them, and even streaming just a "Stream starting soon" image causes the box to flash green/yellow/red, drop 80% frames, and eventually end up disconnecting me. This began seemingly out of the blue - I've been streaming for awhile with no issue, even as recently as November 5th. Then the next time I wanted to turn on my stream I can't seem to get it working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, for me and Rachael.

Not intruding at all, no worries. I'm glad, but not glad, to hear that I'm not the only one having this problem. Hopefully that means there's an easy fix for the both of us!
