Question / Help Issues with CPU spikes causing lag and encoding errors

Hi!

Problem I am having is when trying to stream using optimal settings for my current system I am getting encoding errors within OBS. This causing lag in the stream or moments of buffering. From what I can see is that my CPU usages goes really high up during these times. I have friends with similar setups as mine (a small downgrade in CPU) and can run at the same settings or better without any issues. I have gone into my bios and turned off whatever I can find towards energy saving to see if that was the issue. Still seems to be present. Having a hard time trying to figure out why my setup is causing this much issues. Hopefully anyone here can help.

My PC
  • CPU: AMD FX-9370 Black Edition
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670
  • RAM: 8GB DDR3
  • MB: Asus M5A97 LE R2.0
OBS Settings I am trying to run at are as follows, 60 or 30 FPS(would like to stream at 60 and friends with similar builds can), 3500 bitrate at a veryfast preset.

Use a program like HWMonitor and watch temperatures and CPU's MHz. If MHz goes down a lot with over 80% CPU usage then something may be overheating.

You have: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/M5A97_LE_R20/ ... LE? with AMD FX-9370?
I have: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/M5A97_R20/ ... with only AMD FX-4100

LE is missing a heatsink for Voltage Regulator Module for CPU. This missing heatsink is probably what may be overheating and slowing down. Try to get strong fans to blow on it. Probably should get a better motherboard, avoid LE with super powerful CPU.
