Question / Help Issues recording in multiple ways

Hello Forum,

If I post anything too little please let me know and I can see what I can provide. I am rather new to all this but hope to get a little more knowledgeable.

I wish to record an old game Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption. I tried to do via several methods, but I had no luck via any of the following methods, would any one be so kind as to help a fellow recorder out?

I) When trying to do so via Game Capture, I can not select the program. Even if I alt-tab out of the game and it is full size. If I try to use a hot-key function all I record is a black screen. The video setting is done properly (as in right graphics card and driver is up to date - the game also runs just fine on the computer). [edit] I also tried hotkeying it by the way

II) When I try to do monitor capture. I manage to capture the game but items in game flicker. So I can read I need to use a borderless window and window capture. However, this game is rather old and I do not have an in-game option to do so. Looking at the .ini file I also do not see an option. What line do I need to add to force this, if possible at all?
Someone said it is not even recommended to do Monitor Capture with Windows 7 at all, but I have no alternative for that I am affraid.

Thus, I would like help with either solution. I don't mind playing in a windowed or none windowed mode. I would just like to capture my gameplay. :)
I have several logs of today by which I am trying to get the game to record. I have added one for the purpose of review. Before you go and say something, yes my computer is very old, but I am recording more modern games than this just fine. So that should not be the issue here in the way of performance.
I thank you for any help in advance.
