Reading different OBS setup guides, they each say that you should always keep Aero enabled if you're using window capture/game capture. Aero forces vsync to be enabled whenever running a game in windowed/fullscreen windowed, so it essentially makes games unplayable for me due to the increase in input/mouse lag since I run everything in fullscreen windowed (I use dual monitors, and no, disabling vsync in your video card control panel does nothing and it is still enabled). I can stream just fine with gamecapture while Aero is disabled, but I've been messing around enabling it just to see if there was a performance/quality increase and thus why it's recommended to be enabled. I'm not sure if it's a placebo or not, but I think my stream may look a tad smoother, like with Aero enabled it looks like a full 30 or 60 fps as opposed to, say, 25-55 with it disabled - like it's dropping frames.
Am I just going crazy and experiencing some placebo-like effect and there is no difference between aero being enabled or not, or does the hardware acceleration via Aero make some sort of difference?
