Question / Help Is a 4790k enough to stream newer games (720p/60fps)?

Hi,

I'm building a new computer (probably i7-4790k, 16GB DDR3, GTX 760), it won't primarily be for streaming, but when I do stream I'd like to be able to do so at a semi-decent quality.

I don't mind if I have to run games on medium graphics quality, but I'd like to be able to stream newer games (720p/60fps/~3500kbps/veryfast preset), should the 4790k be capable of this? I could go with the 5820k instead, but unless it's absolutely necessary I'd rather just stick with the 4790k.

Any opinions? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply, how much approx (% CPU) do you think OBS would use encoding on a 4790k with those settings? Do you think it's likely to be good enough for streaming new PC games over the upcoming year or two? Thanks again.

Depends. If you use quicksync around 10% if not around 20-30%. This ran well on my i5 4670k if that tells you anything.
