Question / Help Incompatible Hook Modules Error ( I NEED to limit my FPS ), tried everything to stop so far.

I have added OBS.exe to Rivatuner and set detection level to none. I have tried a lot of other "fixes", none worked or were not real options.

Listen this capture software is out of the 8 I have tried, the absolute best. I want to use it but right now it is looking like I can't. I have an extremely powerful rig, it runs most games past 500 FPS. It is an absurd number, and here is my problem.

When playing games my card(s) "coil whine" SO BAD you can hear it in the next room.

Vsync is absolute trash. It makes things have horrid, intolerable input lag. It is NOT an option. It is NOT a fix.

I can't push 480 frames in various games I am trying to record if there is a "VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV" noise always in the background.

I have tried Nvidia Inspector, it sucks. Games crash often with it and usually load slower. Not acceptable. Especially that crashing often part. Like 4 times every 5 hours. Its putrid.

Rivatuner/MSI afterburner is the only program (so far) I can use to limit my framerate to a reasonable level (usually 160) and not have the games crash, stutter, load 3x longer, etc etc.

So I need to be able to limit my frames, and I need OBS to record when I press the damn record button. I can't constantly alt tab out, hit "ignore" and then 15 minutes later have to do it again. It ruins the consistency of episodes having 20-30 seconds missing inbetween each one. (or constantly starting each part from a savestate/quicksave/GODFORBIDHUBSAVE.)

In the meantime, I am going to continue my search for ways to limit my fps and still use OBS. I am hoping that in the event my search is unfruitful someone here will have the knowledge I need to accomplish my goal.

P.S. I know older versions of OBS don't have the "warning". But I am unsure if it is safe to simply use these older versions. If anyone here can verify that I won't have any problems then I will do it. But as we all know losing a recording in a 90-120 part series is a disaster. I am not taking any risks that aren't 100% necessary.

I get the whining as well. an odd solution to cure the whining is to overclock or underclock your card(s). apparently its a harmonic noise so changing voltages and/or over/under clocking should help this but could take some tweaking.

Other thoughts: crank up the antialiasing or even tessellation manually in your nVidia control panel. 64x tessellation should lower the frames in any video card.

For your second issue, set hotkeys to start stream stop stream and change scenes.

I have mine set to:

Ctrl Alt + Start
Ctrl Alt -
Ctrl Alt 1 through Ctrl Alt 9 for scene changes.

I have found one solution that seems to be working. EVGA-PrecisionX_16 seems to be able to limit my frames and not interfere at all with OBS. It limits only to 120 but I guess thats fine for now. Gotta upgrade to Gsync eventually.

As for settings I just have F9 start and F10 stop. I don't bother with scenes. Might get into it soon though, they do sound interesting. The problem was whenever I hit F9 I heard "BEEP" and the warning came up.

If Precision X starts conflicting or crashing stuff then Ill have to try some different clock settings. Never knew the exact reason for the whine I always thought it was just excess electricity in the capacitors.
