Question / Help i7 not performing as well as my previous i3

you know the little clear plastic cover on the heatsink that protects the thermal paste? yeah, my $ is that is still on there

Didn't know we were taking bets, ha. I will test out the ram thing to see if that helps, but from what everyone is saying its probably the cooler not working well on my CPU. Its sitting right on top of the CPU and the fan is spinning. So my guess is that its not powerful enough to cool it down. I plan to order one tomm from Newegg so I can get it on Saturday morning. To let you guys know, that streaming wise I only stream Monday's, Saturday mornings, and Sunday Afternoon. Both Sunday and Monday go on for about anywhere between 1 half hours to 3. Saturday mornings I am only streaming for an hour from 11 am-12 noon if that gives you guys a point of refence to my CPU usage. Due note I did turn down a lot of things when streaming so that CPU isn't being overheated or CPU usage won't be as high. so I don't think its in any danger of being damaged.

No. Turn off your PC and remove the cooler. you will need to learn how the intel clamps work upon replacement but while you have it off. check thermal paste. is there a plastic clear film somewhere in there? if so, remove it and clean all the old paste with rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs once its 100% clean and replace it with some good thermal paste from bestbuy or an electronic store.

I agree with dping. Before spending money at Newegg, check your current gear for installation mistakes. Otherwise you may just be making the same mistake twice.

So was the plastic film still on? Only thing I can imagine that would lead to temps that bad.

What kind of temperatures are you seeing now?

I get the temp later today when I get back from work, but yes there were. Took off the film, re-applied a fresh coast of thermal paste, and made sure the cooler was fasten on top of the CPU. I guess I just didn't do it properly. Now my computer is wicked fast and my stream is high quality. just tested it out last night at 3000 bit rate and its butter smooth.

Now, 720@60, you should be able to drop the preset a little. I would say shoot for faster or fast preset, then resubmit a log

Also, someone owes me like $5 :P

So I just adjusted the CPU settings, and atm with the current res without downsizing to 720p I can run at 60 fps at Faster CPU preset. going to test now what it looks like with 720p down res

Code:
Audio timestamp for device 'Microphone (5- AT2020 USB )' was behind target timestamp by 9106591

Your mic is still having issues...did you ever find out what audio format it uses? and what audio format your headset/speakers use?

EDIT, no reason to downscale since 768p is the size of your monitor. a 720 downscale isn't possible anyway,

I dont see the mic having issues from when I use it. where do I find that info for audio?

Also just tested out on Fast(update actually it was on medium) and still running pretty smoothly. thought temp for CPU went up. on Fast its at near 80 degrees. I think I can go further but what do you guys think?
