Question / Help I need help fixing my audio settings!

So when I record, every little thing I do is picked up. From typing, to clicking, to even breathing. I really REALLY don't want to use push to talk because I'm a gamer and I've tried it and it is way to hard. I saw something in my settings about a noise gate but I'm not sure what to do! When im on teamspeak my mic doesnt pick up me typing or anything, it only picks up me talking. I just want the same thing to happen when I record.

You'll need to run your mic at a lower gain, move it closer to your mouth, and preferably out of the wind-line from your nose and mouth.

Teamspeak uses a number of background noise reduction routines to remove that ambient sound.
OBS uses the raw audio your microphone is providing. The better the mic, the more sensitive it will be, and so the more background noise will be picked up.

Noise Gate is unlikely to help. It's like an... auto-mute, below a certain volume level. It doesn't filter any background audio, it just auto-mutes the mic when the input level drops below a certain point. So if you're talking, people will hear all that stuff in the background, but if it's set up right, they won't while you aren't talking.

Okay so that fixes that but what about clicking from my mouse and the noise from my keyboard?

If it's picking that stuff up, either you have a REALLY noisy mouse+keyboard, or don't have the mic close enough. Less than 6 inches is standard for most 'studio grade' microphones. The closer you are to the mic, the louder your voice will be picked up. The louder your voice is coming into the mic, the lower you can run the mic volume. The lower the mic volume you run, the quieter ambient noises (like your keyboard and mouse) will be.

If you have a mechanical keyboard with loud switches, try putting a hand towel under it to help limit transmission of the sound to your desktop, and amplification. Mouse, not much you can do... if it's THAT loud though, may be worth looking at another one.

Out of curiosity, what kind of mic are you using? Can you post a logfile from the Help menu, so we can make sure there are no other shenanigans going on (like with webcam audio devices being enabled when they shouldn't).

I'm using a headset with a mic attached to it. It's a Logitech headset.
