Question / Help I NEED HELP!!!! ASAP

Make sure all other programs that can use the device are closed, for example Skype tends to "grab" devices and use them even while being inactive and just loaded in the background. A bit more info could be useful though, what kind of device are you using? what manufacturer? etc.

The device i'm using is an Elgato Game Capture Hd

Ah oki, that normally should work fine, I assume my suggestion didnt help? One more thing that sometimes fixes everything is a system restart. Just reboot windows and test again.

Edit: One more idea, did you add the elgato as a global source to OBS? But now try to use it as a video capture device instead of adding the global source?
