Question / Help I can't remove the black bars

I have 1 monitor with a resolution of 1920x1080.
I am playing a game that runs in 1280x720 and is stretched to screen, I can't run it in a higher resolution.

I can't record a video (file output only, no stream) without having at least some black bars. I followed the guide but it doesn't help.

If I record with the same settings as I record games with 1920x1080 resolution (Custom Resolution of 1920x1080, no downscale, global source without stretching) I get a small video within a big black box, bars on all 4 sides.

It's the same if I:
- use 1.5 resolution downscale to 1280x720
- use Monitor 1 instead of custom resolution with and without downscale to 1280x720
- use custom resolution of 1280x720 with and without downscale to 1280x720

The only thing that makes a difference is using the same settings as for 1920x1080 resolution games but stretching the image of the global source to screen. This will remove the bars at the top and bottom of the screen but not the bars at the left and right, those will be thinner but they won't go away.

I tried changing the global source properties but that doesn't help either, if I use Monitor capture instead of Game Capture I get only a black video with a white screen for the whole duration and if I try to use window capture the game window is not recognized by OBS so I can't select it.

What I want is to record the video exactly as I see it when playing. Preferably in the 1920x1080 resolution it's displayed while playing but if that won't work a 1280x720 resolution video without black bars is also fine.

PS: I am on Windows 7 Home Premium with aero disabled.

If you want to record the video with no black bars, then you need to set the Base Resolution found in Settings>Video to the same size as the game you are playing. For example, when playing Minecraft you set the open resolution for the game as 1280x720 then change your base resolution to 1280x720. That way you won't have black bars. However, you won't be able to play with a stretched screen. I'm not sure hoe else to do it. However, the bright side is you'll get better frames with a smaller window.
