Question / Help I am trying to record my monitor but it only appears as a black screen

So, i open obs and select monitor capture and just disable the cursor captur the preview stream. Then! a black screen. i even enabled the cursor just to see if that could be captured but it wasn't. If you know how to fix this then please tell me.

what game were you trying to record, and what video settings did you have on it

i didnt have a game open yet, i was testing to make sure it worked first

if you dont have the game open, it cant capture anything

so your saying a monitor capture cant record the monitor unless you have a game open?

ah, seems i misread what the problem was, i thought you were using game capture, sorry

monitor capture should be working fine even without anything running, im not sure why you have a black screen
