Question / Help Humming noise when recording.

Okay so, when I record in mp4 format there is a very annoying humming noise over both the microphone and game play. When I disable the microphone completely the humming stops, the problem with this though is that I want to speak while I record game play for a video. I dunno what to do, thanks in advance.

Hey Slip,

What type of microphone do you use?

Usually a background hum means that you need an ground/earth loop isolator for your mic.

Good luck!

Actually ignore that post, I just tried it as FLV and it's screwing up. This is frustrating because about an hour ago everything was legit except for it not being MP4..

Hi, I have the exact same problem! I'm working with a headset connected directly to the laptop's built in USB, but still hear the humming noise.
The noise start immediately after pressing "Start Recording", and is heard both during recording and later in the output video.
Any more ideas how to solve this?

Okay, so.. I know this probably won't help much, you won't be able to use your mic with this quick fix, but here it is.

Click on settings -> audio -> Microphone/Auxilary Audio Device -> drop down menu -> disable.

With that you can at least record gameplay, not mic though.. sucks, I know, but that's what I can help with atm.

USB, it worked fine for FLV format, but when I needed to switch over to mp4, so that Movie Maker could handle the format.. it bugged out on me mang.

Don't record to MP4 anyway, it's a VERY fragile container format, and can easily corrupt a file being recorded and turn the entire recording into unrecoverable digital trash. Record to FLV, and just fast-remux it to MP4 if your editor doesn't support FLV.
