Question / Help How to capture video from Intensity Shuttle

I use a Nikon D7100 and an Intensity Shuttle by BlackMagic.
Video is shown BlackMagic's Media Express, the Intensity Shuttle is chosen as video source in OBS but no signal comes through.
What to do?

Video device drivers are exclusive. It will work in whatever program you launch, but it can't work in two at the same time.

Ah, OK. Actually first I tried only in OBS and there was no signal. Then I opened MediaExpress to see if any signal was coming into the laptop. So now I'll try again only in OBS.

I got the video working in OBS and did a test stream in Facebook which is quite a success for me so far.

Unfortunately I couldn't get the audio into the stream, neither through the intensity shuttle (stereo signal into audio in) nor through the MOTU ultralite 4 (that has all the necessary audio). I could choose the MOTU in the audio settings but no audio was coming.

Camera mic would have worked but I want the clean signal. Is it still necessary in Catalina to use iShowU?

Also I have the problem that the Nikon D7100 shuts down its display after about 10 minutes and then there's no video signal. What to do about that?

Thanks for your help

iShowU is still necessary in Catalina if you want desktop audio (audio from Mac applications, not external devices).

To do the job of iShowU plus channel routing for audio from multichannel external devices, look at Rogue Amoeba's LoopBack.

I got it working with an old Canon HF100 video camera and routing video and audio through the intensity shuttle. After installing an update from Black Magic. I was happy although the video from the Canon isn't that great.

But when I turned things on again yesterday night again there was no signal coming into OBS from the Intensity Shuttle. Why is that whole thing so fragile? How can I turn it into a robust solution that works anytime?

Where are the problem points? I'm on OS X Catalina 10.15.1.
