Looks like the game is running in a 4:3 resolution and obs is setup for 16:9.
You capture your desktop and the game window. The game window (4:3 res) is ontop of the desktop (16:9 res).
I recommend reading the quickstarter guide. This will explain most of the obs functions.
make sure to post a log since black screens usually happen on notebooks.
to your problem on the first post, it looks like you were using monitor and game capture at the same time in the same scene while running the game in fullscreenmode
