Less just a preference, more a direction to grow to take the cast toward a more professional setup.
I was more chiming in to provide a bit of insight in regards to spending a little more now, to avoid re-buying down the line. Yeah, vb-audio will work fine to a given extent. But eventually you run out of what it can handle, and may just be lost about where to actually go from there to move further. Like standing at the top of a foothill... it'll get you some elevation for-now, but you're going to have to march all the way back down and start up a taller hill all over again when it's not high enough. Dismantle your current way and start over with one with 'longer legs', so to speak.
