Question / Help High Ping While Streaming

Hello all, I have been for a while testing new configurations, to optimize my streaming experience. But my problem is I really don't know if my internet/pc specs are enough to stream at quality i want(720p).

Problem: Whenever I stream dota 2, i don't get any drop frames, but I get high pings in game approximate 300 400 ping.

Computers Specs:

Cpu: 4790k 4.0 GHZ
GPU:NVIDIA GTX 970M 6GB
Memory: 8gb

Internet specs:

Hope you guys can help me figuring out if I can stream at quality i want without lagging.

Post a log file from the Help menu, from a live streaming session at least 10 minutes in length. Be aware that streaming uses a LOT of your connection. With only 2mbps upstream, it's going to be a bit tricky to both stream at 720p and leave a margin for the game's network overhead.

Bare-minimum for watchable 720p is 1500kbps video. Be aware that audio is NOT included in this. You may have to drop to 480p though, as it sounds like your network is realistically overtaxed. Speedtest.net is almost useless for livestreamers; it tests peak throughput of a dead file, and throws out your lowest 30% of returns. Livestreaming relies on minimum base throughput... almost the exact opposite of what speedtest is checking.

Yeah, 1800kbps with an additional 96kbps for audio leaves your game a whopping 100kbps or so. Not enough. Plus, most games don't like it when the connection is heavily-loaded. 1800 is also nowhere NEAR enough for 720p@60, which you're currently running.

Try going to 720p@30fps, 1500kbps with 96kbps audio. Enable 'minimize network impact' in the settings. Test stream and see how your ping is doing with a lower video bitrate.
If your ping is still bad, you may have to go to 480p@30fps, at 1000-1200kbps with 96kbps audio.

It's generally advised not to use more than 2/3 of your connection when streaming a single-player game, and 1/2 when you are streaming an online multiplayer.

So far so good, now im getting 100- ping, considerating its evening time, i think this configuration is awesome tnx Mr. Ferret. Streaming at 720p atm.

Dropped frames mean network connectivity problems. You had some in the log before, but I figured it was again from overtaxing the connection. Only thing you can do is try a different ingest server, or turn your bitrate down further until it stops dropping frames.
