1080@30 to 720@24? make sure your fps sync in OBS. 30 to 30 or 24 to 24. second, what else is running, even by the clock, your encoder and video thread times are horrible. also, if you are going down to 720 anyway, you might as well turn your elgato down to 720 and run your base resolution with OBS to 720 (no downscale) as well.Whenever I even just preview with the el gato it drops frames and gives me the high encdoding error, but the device works fine its own software.

I swapped the cature cards record to 720p, it still says something is recording at 1080p but I don't have anything set to that. are you running the elgato software at the same time? it shouldn't be running. Anyway, I think there is a newer Elgato driver out there, along with a firmware update. I dont know if that is the issue, but its worth checking out.
