Hello there :)

I started streaming League of Legends not so long ago, and i Still have questions, concerning my stream quallity.
I know that you need my loggs so here we go:

(not sure if you guys needed that)

My Question is now, is there anyway to increase the video quality, WITHOUT increasing my max bitrate ? Cause i have noticed that if i set it any further, i randomly start to get ingame lag.
I hope that you can help me out :)

Thanks for the help :)!

not streaming with 60 fps .... or using another preset but your cpu wouldnt really be able to handle the encode load + csgo to perform playable

i'd say faster is the max preset you can go ... on fast it will probably already max your cpu while playing

Sorry, i dont quite understand.
Do you mean, that if i would stream on 30fps, the video quality would look better ?
Im using the faster preset already, because i have absolutely no fps problems ingame.

Edit: Small misunderstanding there. Im not streaming CSGO, im streaming League of Legends :)

ohhh sorry about the csgo thingy :P to many 720@60 fps csgo threads lately...

and yes streaming at 30 fps would increase the quality which is just simple logic since your one scond package has a 1750 bitrate and 60 frames which means 30 fps would technically double the quality... thats not what its actually going to be but decreasing the fps to 30 will increase the quality by a lot under heavy picture movement

What if i turn it to lets say 45 fps? Because my initial idea was, that on 60 fps the whole stream looks smoother especially when i scroll around.

48 fps would be better ... but dont judge before you havent tried it... i've seen quite some smooth 30 fps streams lately obviously not as smooth as 60 fps but they were still enjoyable and watchable so give it a try

720@30/48/60 those are the 3 common fps settings the more fps you try to stream with the more quality loss you get for each encoded packet per second which would mean you need a higher bitrate to achiev the same picture quality

Okay thanks alot :)!
And what if i use the downscaling to 1536x864, i mean the 1.25 down scale?
Is it as "viable" as the 720p downscale ?
Because i have tried to search through the forums, for what looks better for my upload but i couldnt really find an answer.

1. 2000kbps is enough for 720p@45fps with decent quality. It also will run 720@30 with good quality. 1750 would give good quality at 30fps. You need to lower your framerate, so more of the bitrate can be devoted to image fidelity.

2. Raising the resolution is the absolute opposite of what you want to do. Higher resolution requires even more bitrate to look good than higher framerate (due to the higher pixel density, where more FPS is easier as less changes on each update-frame).

3. Higher framerate will result in smoother motion, but requires more bitrate to retain the proper image quality.

4. Alpinlol, the 48fps thing makes absolutely no sense. That sounds like a carryover from doubling 24fps (simplified movie rate). Can you explain why this works, or is this just something someone told you and is being repeated?

My recommendation, with only 1750kbps available, run at 720p@30fps. You'll get better image fidelity. I'd also recommend running League at 720p in-game, and setting OBS to run at 720p; that way you'll be sending a 'native' stream, and will get clear text instead of the fuzzing that comes with downscale.

i usually only suggest 30 or 60 fps ... but if im not mistaken krazy said that 48 fits better into the refreshrate i actually think that 45 and 48 are complete odd numbers and shouldnt really be used still there are more than just a few people using 48 fps

Thanks gentlemen, i will definitelly switch to 30fps!
Although im not sure, if want to set the league settings to 1280x720 :(
i kinda understand your point there, but i think there is huge difference for myself, if im used to gaming in 1080p for years

Re: Hey there, i need some advice on my 720p 60fps LOL strea

well you can stick to playing 1080p just not really streaming but 720p@30 will still look pretty damn good and its more than enough in my opinion

Yeah, you can do that. But the text will look fuzzy and crappy. Why I moved to a 1080p stream any time I run League; streaming natively = sharp, clear text. Downscale = fuzzy text.
