Question / Help Help With PC & Laptop Streaming

Hello All,

I've read the various threads on here regarding 2 pc streaming, however, I guess i'm just not understanding some of it.

Basically, I have a decent gaming pc -

AMD x4
GTX 570
8 gigs ram

I'm looking into buying a laptop to start streaming from that so I don't have fps drop on my gaming rig. I was looking at a razer blade so that I could still take the laptop with me and game else where.

Is this going to be possible? If I put a capture card into my gaming pc, will it output the video to my laptop? or is it strictly for input? Does the capture card need to be in the computer i'm streaming from? etc...

or would it just be better to upgrade my cpu and gpu and stay single computer?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

2PC setups require a bit more tinkering but overall, they give you more performance. The only way it would work with a laptop is if the laptop you're buying has a video input. Most dont.

Which AMD quad core do you have?

say it did have a video input, how do i get the picture from the pc to the laptop? capture card?

I only run one gpu...so would the other pcie slot work for that?

You could use an external capture card, but you'd need an HDMI splitter as well. One GPU is fine if you're streaming to a second PC. You could upgrade your card to a 600 or 700 series Nvidia card and use Nvenc (shadowplay) to stream and keep a one PC setup. But with your CPU, you'd be looking at a 480p stream at best so you have some CPU power left to actually play the game.

would a simple cpu upgrade suffice to stay one pc if i choose to? like a 6 or 8 core amd?

still using the same gpu

No problem. I used to use an 1100T to stream and the FX6300, 8320, and 8350 are all better than that chip. You should be fine with a CPU upgrade, but make sure your motherboard supports the CPU you pick by checking the support page on your motherboard's website
