Question / Help Help with how to set up AVM Live Gamer HD with Consoles

Hello there!

First post here, so I'm sorry if this is better explained somewhere else (if you could direct me there, that would be awesome). I am interested in buying either the AverMedia Live Gamer HD or a Micomsoft SC-512N1-L. I do pretty much only console streaming so, of course, HDCP is a problem for me. I currently use a Roxio Game Capture HD and run my PS3/360 as component to the card then HDMI out to my display and use OBS as my streaming service. This works fine, but I really want to take the step up to a PCI-E card.

My question is; is it possible to connect a PS3/360 to the AverMedia Live Gamer HD without having to use a separate converter box to bypass the HDCP? Or is the Micomsoft card the better way to go.

My goals are have a very good quality stream. I desire 1080p but 1, is it worth it with streaming, 2, do I definitely need a HDCP bypass box to do it.

My PC specs are as follows, if that helps.

i7 870 @ 2.93GHz
8GB Ram
64-bit
Nvidia GTX 660Ti



So to recap, I need to be able to stream consoles, with as high quality as I can get.
Also, curious, what is my desired bit rate with my current connection speed?

The Micromsoft card is certainly the better card (though having to capture audio and video separately instead of HDMI audio is a bit of a pain). However, both cards will not be able to play back HDCP-protected content in OBS. You would have to get a HDCP stripper to do that (which I do not advocate).

Oh yes the SC-512N1-L/DVI is a true beast, it may be expensive as hell but it's the only capture card you will ever need. Though honestly if you don't need up to 1080p 60 FPS capturing, or looking to stream anything RGB then you could go with a Live Gamer HD if you own an HDCP stripper like dodgepong mentioned above so you could use your PS3 with it. I'm not sure but aren't HDCP strippers illegal to use? Anyways, you can't go wrong with the SC-512N1-L/DVI either way.

So my option really is just to run it through component? I'm trying to get my way into professional streaming (eventually going with SDI). Like I said, I'm trying to get the best quality for streaming, in which case, is component sufficient enough? I'm just trying to understand how I should go about setting everything up.

^ I actually already have one of those, and it is broken -_- But even when it did work I had a world of problems using it.
