(Help) Valorant freezes when I open OBS

Hi, I have a problem I couldn't find a solution for:

When I open OBS while Valorant is running (it only happens with Valorant), the game freezes and the preview is all black. I don't even have to start recording or streaming, just need to open the app. A few hours ago it worked perfectly.

The OBS Analyzer tells me: max audio buffering and that the CPU and GPU are 100%, but that doesn't happen with any other game and the same settings. Here is the log.

Try a different version of OBS, I was having similar issues and just reverted back to an older version.
Same, but I notice this only happens when I open OBS as an administrator. If i don't, the preview still looks black. Thanks anyway.

I think I might have figured out the PROBLEM but not a Solution. For me, I found that Valorant stops responding ONLY when you try to capture it using game capture: Specific window: Valorant. But it doesn't if you use normal window capture (Personally I don't like using window capture because I like being able to tab out since I don't have a second monitor. (EDIT) Also if you turn off the game capture layer (The eye on the side) Valorant will unfreeze as well.

It's the Anti-cheat compatibility hook. Every time Riot updates their game it breaks the anti-cheat hook cert.

Not exactly, it is because the OBS certificate needed to be updated which is a very rare occurrence ....if game capture broke every time they updated their game that would be quite miserable.

True, I just never really have any issues other than when I attempt to launch Valorant myself. Generally my searches lead to Riot's anti-cheat system causing the issues rather than the cert itself. I believe I should have worded my statement differently rather than seeming like I'm blaming the cert when it's not.

Currently downloaded and installed version 30.2.3 and the game capture is working just fine. With the updated version of OBS, I can disable the compatibility hook with creating a new game capture and Valorant won't freeze but no video. With the hook enabled, it freezes the game and will even kick you out of a custom game.

I am not sure what you are trying to test here, it is expected that OBS game capture will not work with Riot games on v31+ because the OBS game capture certificate was updated and the Riot anti cheat does not yet allow an exception for it as I said in my previous message.

I just find it odd, that after the recent update for Valorant, before I updated to 31.0.3, 31.0.2 game capture feature worked fine. Reverted to 31.0.2 and it was still broken but yet working before updating.

Doing tests, I noticed that Valornat only freezes when I open obs with administrator privileges, so... why?

I feel like I should clarify once again, it is 100% known/expected that this will happen. A future update from both OBS and Riot's anti-cheat will allow game capture to work once again and for now you should a window capture source instead.
