Help setting up Elgato 4K X Capture Card with obs to a PS5. Any advice?

it shows up / works (partially) as a video capture device, but there is no 4K capture option in the capture device resolution menu.
I have tried it with xbox series x, and xbox is in the 4K output mode, but signal is only getting through at 1080p.

to continue, the video mode getting pass through from xbox series x is full 4K.
the video capture utility of Elgato 4K X has some communications issues, even if OBS works at 1080p.

main issue seems that video capture device does not have a drop down for 4K (3840x2160) resolution.
is the capture resolutions (default does not work correctly) hard coded or stored in some settings file.

while the webcam mode for some reason has 1080p limit (no 4K cams),
you can install elgato 4K capture utility, enable the Stream link / OBS NDI.
then you can run it full 4K. you have to then have the 4K capture utility running on the background.

note to self: the usb cable and adapters from PC to 4K X all need to actually support USB 3 and 10Gbps+ for higher modes than normal 4K60 display mode. now the video capture device shows 4K as input without needing to use NDI for OBS through the elgato 4K capture utility. (problem was: USB adapter only supported 2.0, not 3.0).
