Yesterday I upgraded from my Intel Core i5 4690k to a Ryzen 9 5900x, and after running some test recordings I noticed my new "Beast Of A CPU" wasn't really holding up the way I had seen in YouTube videos and reviews...
I was trying to record Apex Legends (ultra low settings) at 720p60 using x264 Medium, 6000kbps and was dropping a ridiculous amount of frames due to encoding lag, despite my cpu usage sitting at like 4.8% and my average time to render frame being below 1ms.
Here are the important system specs:
Ryzen 9 5900x
Palit Jetstream GTX 1060 6GB
Klevv Bolt 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
Based on other peoples test recordings and advice that I watched on YouTube before purchasing the CPU, I have used Process Lasso to assign 6cores/12threads to OBS and the other 6cores/12threads to my games, in this case Apex Legends.
